Our
Mission Statement.......
To provide tomorrow’s adults with an educational and
life-long appreciation of diverse styles in instrumental
music. Through various performance opportunities, the
Waco High Band program seeks to develop personal musical
growth and character, as well as mental and physical
discipline that results in a sense of pride and
accomplishment for all of our students.
With an emphasis on quality, character, and attention to
the individual and ensemble musician, the Waco High Band
balances Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band,
Colorguard, and various small ensembles to develop
musical literacy with artistic values that can serve
students their entire lives.
Students participate in structured and organized
rehearsals that focus on quality tone production which
balance technical and artistic challenges appropriate to
the capability levels of High School musicians in
Texas and around the country. The Waco High School Band
emphasizes quality musical literature choices, blending
a mix of standard repertoire with original cutting edge
compositions. Attendance and participation requirements
are paramount to insuring quality performances for all
of the bands at Waco High School.
The Marching Band is one of the most visible
organizations on campus, and the "LION PRIDE" band
enjoys strong community support, a supportive
administration, and a highly involved Booster
organization.
Students will travel to some of the most famous and
prestigious venues in the state of Texas while
performing in, and attending some of the finest musical
events in the Country. This helps to build a healthy
respect for other musicians and also offer outstanding
opportunities for personal musical development.
All of these elements combine to make your students
experience in the Waco High Band program one of the
highlights of their academic career.
